It was kinda awkward: only ten people arrived. Nobody seemed keen to come that day, as it was expected to be boring (they were half right). Who wouldn't want to spend the day at home, right? Well, except for me. I came for the free shows. What can I say, I like free things.
So anyways, on our way to the hall, the path was blocked by most of the Form 1s and Form 2s (So that was the reason I found school unusually packed when I came in the morning). They came in a variety of sizes, from small to big, big to small, thin to fat and small to small (I'm hinting something here). And they were anything but fast. It took them more than 20 minutes to squeeze into the hall. Or was it 30? I can't remember. All I know is they make a snail look like a jet plane.
So, finally we managed to squeeze into the hall. Me and a few of my friends had to sit at the very back. And that was when we realized we couldn't see anybody on stage. Because of what, you ask? The answer: some stupid balloons. The balloons this year were hung too low. The performers' head were covered up by balloons. Balloon heads.
The performances were great, there was singing, some taekwando act, dancing, more singing and some awesome break dance and some more singing. All in all, the performances were rather entertaining. Except for maybe the first one. Kinda dozed off there. At the end, the teachers also went on stage to sing and dance and everybody cheered them on! Oh, oh, there was also a lion dance at the start, and having not seen one for a long time, I was pretty enthralled.
A band called Justified performing.
The teachers going on stage to sing.
The funny taekwando performance.
After the performance, we had a short break before having to sit at the teres in front of the field. After picking a spot, my friends and I waited for the start of the telematch. One of my friends, Joeal, was also in the games. We had lots of laughs, from the hula hoop game to the dressing-up competition at the end. The teachers and students in the game had to dress up an unfortunate victim in girls' clothing. It was pretty hilarious.
Guys in pinafore.
All in all, it was a fun day and I could say I wouldn't miss the next Teachers Day. Hopefully it would be better than this year and they would hang those stupid balloons higher. Too much balloon heads are bad for your health.
YC, signing out.
P.S: These photos aren't mine. They belong to a Facebook friend, so I hope she doesn't mind. thank her for the great photos.
