Birthday Party and Night Time Basketball!

So, yesterday, on 30th April 2011, Ian Zhan, Tung Jun, Tat Weng, Jun Kit, Daniel, Zhu Hang and a few hundred of my friends (which I am so lazy to name) went to our friend, Kwan Kit's house.

The reason? Well, it was his birthday! (Or soon to be). So, my dad brought me and Ian Zhan to his shophouse (which was the 2nd floor of a maid agency) at about 7 PM. A few others were there already when we arrived. So, the first thing we did when we went up was to greet everyone (Duh!) before turning our attentions to the computer (Duh!x2). Even though the comps weren't the best, but they were still usable and we did many things like playing football games, facebooking and playing Sudden Attack.

And we messed with Kin Cheng's facebook. So, he got like, really pissed, and we were all laughing our arse off. Hey, it was me who typed it, BUT it was Ian Zhan who suggested the content of the post. Meh, he deleted it, but I bet many of us won't forget it.

After having dinner (mee hoon, mee, nuggets, sausages and the such), we went to opening Kwan Kit's birthday presents. Ian Zhan, Tat Weng, Tung Jun, Kin Cheng and some (which I'm not sure who) bought Kwan Kit a glow-in-the-dark basketball which is just so cool and neat. I mean, who sees glow-in-the-dark balls everyday, much less a basketball?

Ian Zhan with the glowing ball.

Next, he opened a few other presents, including mine and Teck Yuan's, we decided to head out to the basketball court nearby to have fun with the new ball. As we marched down the street, we must have looked like a gang of thugs or something (lol).

It was one of the most interesting basketball games I have ever played. Everybody did very well, especially Tung Jun who was on steroids. Alas, we didn't win for Kwan Kit, but everybody had their fair share of fun. The game lasted for for 1 hour and 10+ minutes.

The night game!

When we got back, Kwan Kit's cake await us. After resting and fighting over who gets more soft drinks (we were thirsty as hell!), we darkened the room as the cake was served. We sang him a birthday song and shared the cake, talking to each other whole we enjoyed that confection.

Everybody celebrating. Don't ask. Just don't...

Soon after, we started leaving (it was 11+ PM) and had to say our goodbyes. But I'm sure most of us won't forget this day for a long, long time...

Of Slow Internet, Anime Downloads, Yumekui Merry and Doomsday

Read the title if you still aren't sure what I am going to type about.

Yes, my Internet speed, or more precisely, my Internet download speed is really, really, really (and by really, I mean really different from 1.5 months ago) slow. And by download, I mean downloading anime.

I know, I know, some of you don't approve of watching anime. I mean, it might be unhealthy, a complete waste of time, a carbon copy of cartoons except in Japanese, a portal to the demon world or some other crap, but I am truly drawn to it like a moth to a candle flame. Except that I don't burst into flames.

Right. I'm blabbering already.

There's so many anime out lately, so many series that I haven't completed, and some old ones that I am downloading on other's request. Still, I finished Yumekui Merry (Google it) and I find it one of the worst, if not the, anime out there. It could be said to be almost as bad as Pandora Hearts. But meh, I watched till episode 7 before, so I thought to myself, What the heck, I'll just finish it. Much of my brain cells has died after making that decision.

Ohh, spooky... I actually can't see a thing.

Merry is a random Muma (aka Dream Demon) from the Dream World. And she appears to be stuck in the human world, which is odd, to say the least. You see, Dream Demons live in their own special world, with their special shapes, sizes, abilities and pupils. As in pupils in the eye pupils. Freaky...

I have triangular pupils and I am angry.

So anyways, for Mumas to come into our world, they have to find a vessel, which is sorta like a host for a parasite. Anyways, the 'Dream' in Dream Demon doesn't really mean the natural phenomenon that happens in your mind while you sleep. The 'Dream' actually means your dreams or ambitions. Like you want to be superman or something, I dunno.

Well, let's continue. Mumas can be either good or bad, and their relationship with a vessel may vary. The bad Mumas usually take complete control over a vessel, locking up the original personality of the person inside. Good Mumas, like Engi Threepiece, do not take complete control over the vessel, but instead they may switch with their vessel and take over for a while.

What's so special about Merry then? Well, she's in the real world. And she has no vessel. And somehow she has the ability to go into other Dream Worlds, if not her own. So then they go on a rampage finding ways to send Merry back because she misses home, and a new enemy lurks in the shadow.

Her horizontal pupils are kinda cool!

But seriously, she is just this cute when she goes all Chibi.

Overall, it was rather boring and predictable, with the whole hero thing going strong. And no, Merry isn't the hero (or heroine), but in fact a normal kid with special powers that can see people's dreams. His name is Yumeji. He is normal and useless except that he too can go in the Dream World. Oh yeah, FYI, the occurrence of randomly entering the Dream World is called a Day Dream.

So, there's this guy named John Doe the Chaser who is after Yumeji's life (he only appeared twice) but then later decided that letting him go would be better. Than there's this guy named Pharos Heracles who is all big, mighty and scary and is supposed to be the one that lured all the Muma into frenzy to possess any vessel they can find. That's why he was known as the 'Lighthouse'. He was mentioned twice in the anime but never really made a debut. Like, WTF? ISN'T HE THE MAIN ANTAGONIST?

Whaddaya know, it's Chaser John Doe!

I'm Pharos Heracles. I'm big, I'm bad, and I never came out even once.

NO! See, there's this Muma named Mistleteinn, who is a real sadist. And like all shows, the sadist are all-powerful. Mistleteinn controls water and tree, is fast and agile, and is so OP that she can drag her own Dream World into others. Other than that, she can force other Mumas to possess vessels, then kill them again just for the fun of it. SEE, SHE'S SADISTIC! And she also eats other Mumas.

[Insert sadistic laughter]

Then, you know the rest of the story. An old friend turns out to be the enemy. Then they used the power of love, trust and friendship to destroy Mistleteinn yada yada they all won...

Predictable, no? But as I like to put, the ending was very potong, as in not clear and unfinished, as if the company was out of budget, which would most probably be true. Anyhow, like every show, there are both good and bad elements within the anime. Good thing, err, creativity in creating the Mumas? Bad thing, err, everything else? The graphic drawings are bad (I mean, who in the world cry out tear droplets the size of your fist?!), the fight scenes are crappier than my garbage can. I just hope the company doesn't try to make any anime in the mean time, especially action ones.

Well, at least the manga is WAAAAY better. I'm going to read it now. At least there are good characters that I like, despite the short appearances: John Doe the Chaser/Chaser John Doe.

THAT DOG BIT MY FACE OFF!

There's also his army of cats. They are funny. In some sense. For example...

Yo yo yo! Me no speak Americano!

On to the next topic. MIDYEAR TEST IS APPROACHING! I am so bad about studies, and I barely have the will to do it. I'm super lazy now, and holding an exercise books during the weekend makes it feel like a ton. Pfft, one day my head might explode. So many work, so little time.

IT BURRRRRRNSSSS!

I just hope that I can be more hardworking, and I hope that my calls for help doesn't go unanswered. And good luck to everyone taking that test.

It's... MY FRIENDS!

Yes, yes. New post and all that, I know. Probably wouldn't be so enthusiastic in the future. Either that or I forget my password. So, anyways...

Yeah, friends. Who could live without them? They're always entwined in your life, whether you like it or not. Family comes first, friends second and yourself last. Although I usually choose myself first sometimes. It's a natural defense mechanism.

So, the first of my friends: Jarren. He's a funny, weird and a little crazy (in a good sort of way), and very, very compatible with me. He's the happy-go-lucky kind of guy, though he gets nervous at some totally unimportant things, for example going to school in Aus after the holidays. Don't give me that look, Jarren, you know it's true.

Jarren before travelling to Aus, at the airport.

He's always there to support me, and always listens to me when I'm ranting off about something. He likes to joke and sometimes tease people for fun, especially his sister, Jomei. Other than that, he's quite good in his work, and like me, is weak in Chinese.

I met Jarren since Standard 3, and I feel very guilty when thinking about it. See, I treated Jarren like a minion during that year (Yes, I'm laughing very hard now). I don't remember the specific reason but I know it has to do with some guy which he had dubbed "Light Bulb Head". So, I later met him again in Standard 6, and it was one of my best year with him.

He came to our class during the school holidays of Standard 5, and we were having extra classes to help us in our UPSR. So, I was waiting by the gate for him on the first day, and that smart guy didn't come. I don't know why, but he just didn't. Man, was I disappointed. But at least I got back at him. See, there was a day when I didn't come and he got humiliated by the teacher. But, we got on with the rest of the year quite okay, even though we're sitting apart (he's sitting next to "Evil Julie") and we fight occasionally, but that's normal with your friends, right? As long as you actually make an attempt to apologize, then you're fine.

Round 1, fight!

So, now he's already migrated to Australia. Time sure flies. You have to appreciate your friends; you might not know when they will be gone. At least with today's technology, we're still able to talk to each other and such. And he's coming back on July, so I don't have to worry much.

Well, let's carry on. The next person that I appreciate would be Bryan Poh. He's probably gagging when he was reading this. That's natural. Bryan is a smart person (I think it's because of his smart sister) who would sometimes joke and such, though he is mostly serious. I seriously didn't know how I became friends with him (HE KEEPS DENYING IT, DAMNIT!) cause he's the kind of person that could not really take an insult or a tease. You should try. He will fire words at you faster than a machine gun firing bullets. And he's not that good in Chinese, too.

But Bryan has some good qualities. He may not have the patience, but he does have the will to strive forward and help others, especially his friends. He shares a few games with me, and watches anime, so there are some stuff to talk about once in a while. His teachings are good and easily understandable, and he mostly has team spirit !! Booyah!

He's pretty good in maths (And I suck at it -.-) and he sometimes doesn't have the patience to teach me. He's angry at me most of the time, I can't tell, but he's really OK when you get to know him, and I have known him since Form 2. At that time, he bends my fingers back while I bite him on his hands. Yeah, those were the times.

This is Bryan. Note his awesome SC 2 shirt.

Bryan is good-natured, kind and will help a friend in need (I think, for I can't really tell. He's mean to me) so I will say that I appreciate you. Just don't glare at me when I ask you for some homework help, please.

Well, third on my list is Loo Ian Zhan, or IanZhan Loo, or Raido Xes or Raido Swire. Yes, he has a lot of different names. He's also one of my good friends who I had known since Standard 5. He is good in all subjects, especially Chinese (Boo!), but is weak in BM and English.

Rare picture!

Some people will call him weird (as in the freaky, outcast type of weird), but he's a sociable person. Really nice. You kinda get used to him after the punching (Violent punya orang) and weird talk, and he has the patience to help you get through stuff. He gets easily angered though, and one look of his face will usually silence your soon-to-finish tease/insult.

Other than that, he likes football very much. Chelsea is his favorite team, and he always stays up at night to watch his team play. Other than that, he likes playing basketball, although he plays like a Rugby player, hitting people aside just to get the ball. And he goes to Taman Aman on most Sundays.

He shared many games with me and kinda entertained me during Form 1. He likes Muse, Adam Lambert, Pendulum, and many others... He just likes music. He seldom takes picture of himself, is active in Scouts (just this year), and is totally loyal to the Leo Club. Hoorah for you!

Well, I'm kinda tired now. I know there are many more that I haven't posted here, but rest assured you guys will be remembered. That is, if my memories don't fail me. Appreciate your friends, you may not know when you will see them again...

Random picture of Khai Xiang, my other friend. LAUGH, MAN, LAUGH!

First Time For Everything

Well, my first blog. As they say, there's a first time to everything. Let's start with this blog. My inspiration? Simple: my best friend, Jarren, has created a blog, and from what he typed, it's rather interesting and cool, therefore I said, 'Ah, what the heck. I'll try to start my own blog.' And so here I am.

Speaking of first times, the new subjects of Form 4 are absolutely killing me! They are tougher, harder, and absolutely alien to me. And I absolutely suck in Mathematics, especially Additional Mathematics. Now, I won't say it's the teacher's fault. I blame myself for being weak in maths. I should practice more, but it seems good ol' Sloth has a strong grip on me. I'm taking tuition next month, and I hope it'll help.

Speaking of which, Jarren has introduced me to a new Starcraft 2 game: Zealot Frenzy! I did not touch SC 2 for about 2-3 weeks, which is pretty long, and after seeing several games of it, I was actually hooked. The game was fast paced, although recently, Jarren's lag caused the enemies to work together and gank up on us. That IS no fun. But if you guys are up for a game of Zealot Frenzy, I'll have no problem playing. Flavor Flav is my Hero, just so you know.

Nova was selected in this round.

A player got nuked!

Well, when Jarren was here to stay, I went with him to spend time with his friends. Or my friends. Or our friends. Anyway, we (Me, Jarren, Durai, Shyue Chyn) went to Yi Yang's house and of course we played the computer. What did you expect? Sadly, Yi Yang lost his key and we were stuck outside and we ended up wandering around the apartment till his brother came to save the day. We had fun that day, although Durai had to go back early. After all, it was the first time with the 5 of us hanging out together and having fun. BTW, I also went to Jarren's school and saw a few familiar faces. Good to see you guys.

Yi Yang, Jarren and I also went to Chyn's house. It was really cooling, his computer was good (though I prefer mine, yeah), and we ate homemade pizza. Unfortunately Durai wasn't there to join us. We played a little Starcraft, ping pong, some DotA for me... Yada yada...

Well, today was the first time I got rammed by a motorcycle. Yes, got your attention now, right? You see, it was starting to drizzle when I was crossing a small road to the Atria mall on the opposite side. It was a one-way street, so I wasn't expecting the motorcycle to come from the other direction. Yes, he horned and tried to break, but I froze and I had too little time to react before BAM! I fell to the ground. It hurts, especially my leg where I got a cut. My bones felt as if they've been shaken to the very core, and I was kinda stunned when he helped me up. Thankfully, I wasn't hurt really bad. The driver came down and apologized, at least, though I felt like punching him. DRIVE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, LAH! My elbow was bruised, and I had a nasty cut on my leg. It kept bleeding. but it's OK now.

Weeee!

But I am really thankful to God that it was a motorcycle instead of a car. If it was, I probably wouldn't be typing this here right now. Thank you, xie xie, terima kasih and arigato!

So this is my first blog post. Hope I wasn't boring you.
